Oncology

Oncology refers the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Unfortunately, cancer (or neoplasia) is seen almost as commonly in pets as it is in people. There are a wide range of different types of cancer that animals can develop, however there are now also a wide range of treatments available for our pets. Cancer diagnosis and treatment always involves an individualised plan to ensure the best possible outcomes as every situation is different. Cancer is inherently unpredictable and as such oncologists will formulate a specific plan depending on the presentation of disease and specific to the desired outcome – whether it be palliation, remission, or cure.

At TVHR we have dedicated personnel that have additional qualifications in oncology and are passionate about achieving the optimal results for every diagnosis. Often they will work with members of the surgical or diagnostic imaging team to optimise diagnosis and treatment. Our new facilities have a dedicated chemotherapy suite and we have an extensive range of chemotherapy administration equipment and pharmaceuticals in house to ensure timely and safe administration of all treatments. The team approach to oncology results in enhanced outcomes for referring vets, clients and their pets.
