Diagnostic Imaging

Advanced Imaging - CT

At TVHR we have our own brand new dedicated CT scanner onsite that allows rapid diagnosis of many diseases. CT is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging procedure that creates high-resolution cross-sectional images of the body.

The images produced by CT allow us to visualise and diagnose diseases that are not easily seen on traditional imaging such as x-ray and ultrasound. CT has a wide variety of applications ranging from presurgical planning for complicated fractures, trauma cases, abdominal or thoracic pathology to more complex disease diagnosis such as portosystemic shunts.

Advanced Imaging - MRI

MRI uses a magnetic field to acquire high-resolution cross-sectional images of the body. It is superior to other imaging technologies for many soft tissue and neurological cases and is mostly used for the diagnosis of brain and spinal lesions.

At Tasmanian Veterinary Hospitals Referrals we are lucky enough to have access to a current model Siemens 3T MRI machine which provides incredibly detailed images and hence the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that we previously couldn’t manage.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a rapidly growing field in veterinary medicine and involves looking inside various body cavities without performing invasive surgery. We have been pioneering in Tasmania with the use of endoscopy and now have decades of experience performing endoscopic procedures. Our new facilities have a dedicated endoscopy suite and state of the art equipment including a comprehensive selection of flexible and rigid endoscopes, allow even the most challenging procedures to be performed. The experienced team are passionate and focused which ensures the best possible outcomes for referring vets, clients and their pets.
